Long term rentals?

My family and I are living in Playa del Carmen, Mexico and loving it, but for a variety of reasons we need to return to the US. SPI was an obvious choice for us.

I haven't found a lot of information on long term rentals. Are long term rentals scarce on SPI? Our lease is up here in late December, so it will be a good time for us to make our move.

Thanks for any info.

Playa --

The best place to look for long term rentals is the local paper at http://www.portisabelsouthpadre.com/ in the classifieds section. There are also many rental agencies on the island and although they mostly deal in short term rentals, there are some long term rentals as well. Just google "south padre rentals" and you'll find them. The 2 bedroom 2 bath condos are saturated right now, so I'm sure that you will be able to find something. Good luck!

Re: Long term rentals?

Lots of monthly rentals are heavily booked by Winter visitors for January and February only. You'll have a much better selection if you shop in October or November.

Your choices are furnished, unfurnished, beach front, interior, bayside, house, or condo, so look at the websites and get a feel where you might want to be. You should expect to pay the winter monthly rate for long term.

It's helpful to know that there is a correlation between winter monthly rates and long term rates. Our plans are pretty much in stone for a move between Christmas and New Years, so we'll just have to deal with the market forces.

Thank for replying to our post. Much appreciated!
