Relocating to the island?

I am interested in Relocating to the Island. Does anyone have any resources where one may find rental listings for apartments or houses for rent?

Re: Relocating to the island?

If you are looking for long-term rentals, you can research it a little online such as by calling Furcron Real Estate, SPI Beach Houses and Condos, and whatever you can find in a Google search - just be sure it's in the Town of South Padre Island and not Corpus Christi, Port Aransas, etc.

Then an exploratory trip to the island is needed. Some folks just put up a "for rent" sign and sometime the realtors can help you out. Buy a Port Isabel Press newspaper, which many advertise in - sorry I don't think that paper is online.

To clarify, there are many "short-term" rentals on the island, such as by the day, week, or less than 30 days. That's about 90 percent of the rental market, because of all the tourism, and those kinds of rents can be high. You want a lease more like 6 or 12 months if you're relocating here. There are some attractive long term rentals in the Port Isabel / Laguna Vista area as well, not a bad drive over the Causeway.

Best of luck and I hope I helped a little bit.

With prices down the way they are you might consider buying property. If you dont have to be on the island, take a look at Port Isabel of Laguna Vista. Your rent money can go along way towards purchasing a small home or condo in this market. Talk to a Realtor on the island while your down here. Good luck
